Fort Myers Traffic Ticket Lawyer
Defending Criminal Traffic Offenses in Fort Myers
A series of traffic tickets can bring your ability to operate a vehicle legally to an end. In our state, a point system is used and when enough points have been accrued, your license will be revoked. Rather than losing your license, paying steep fines, possibly losing your ability to work, and impacting your future employment options, why not fight back? At our firm, Brian L. Edwards, Esq., we take on civil and criminal traffic offenses for our clients.
There are usually real opportunities to avoid the penalties if you make the right choices with your traffic tickets. If you pay the ticket, you are admitting guilt, and you will have points on your license. You have the option of choosing to fight back, and we can help!
If you have a number of unpaid tickets, you can face legal trouble and we can assist you to get this issue under control so you don't have to live your life in fear of being stopped and arrested. We can address warrants, serious felony traffic offenses, DUI and other charges including speeding, racing, reckless driving, careless driving, operating a vehicle without a valid driver's license, driving with a suspended driver's license or revoked driver's license, vehicular homicide, leaving the scene and all other criminal traffic violations. We represent individuals accused of the serious felony offense of vehicular homicide or DUI manslaughter.
How We Fight Back
At our firm, we have some unusual credentials that can be exceptionally beneficial to you in your case. Our founding attorney is a former deputy district attorney, and has extensive trial experience. When you must challenge a ticket, you definitely want to have a skilled and qualified Fort Myers criminal defense lawyer on your side. Whether your case requires the help of an independent accident investigator or other expert witness, or can be defended simply by an aggressive cross examination of the arresting officers, you deserve to find out what can be done to assist you, and what your options are.
We offer a free initial case evaluation to assist you, and allow you to find out more about how we can help you defend against a criminal traffic offense. We know how important it is that you get help so that you have the best chance of retaining your legal right to drive. The earlier you get in touch, the faster we can get into action for you. Our state has reciprocal agreements with most other states, and even if you relocate you will not be able to get a license.
The Point System in Florida
When you get points on your license, they will stay on your license for a period of 3 years. If you get 12 points within a 12 month period, you will get a 30 day license suspension. If you get 18 points within an 18 month period, you will face a 90 day suspension. If you get 24 points within 3 years, expect to lose your driver's license for an entire year. One incident can lead to multiple citations and many points.
Leaving the scene with property damage will mean 6 points on your license. Excessive speed in violation of law that resulted in a crash is 6 points. Reckless driving or other criminal traffic violations, termed "willful and wanton" means 4 points. There are many other serious criminal traffic violations that could lead to penalties, loss of driver's license as well as requirements to attend a Basic Driver's Improvement Course. If you fail to complete the course within the time allotted, you will have your license suspended.
